The Wagyu Katsu sandwich is the most expensive sandwich in the world and a real treat that you can now prepare at home.
Ingredients for 1-2 persons
- 300-350 g Wagyu rump steak
- 2 slices of sandwich bread
- Some steak salt
For the sauce
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp coarse mustard
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp honey

Preparation
Allow the Wagyu Rumpsteak to defrost slowly overnight in the fridge and place on the kitchen plate one hour before preparation. Then preheat the grill or pan to the highest possible temperature, remove the fat from the rump steak and cut to the size of the sandwich bread. The rump steak can then be seared on the grill or in the pan (core temperature 52-54 degrees).
In the next step, you can melt the edge of the fat on the grill or in the pan, cut the edges off the sandwich and briefly fry the sandwich slices in the Wagyu fat.
The sauce can be prepared well in advance by mixing the four ingredients together. The sauce can now be spread on both sandwich slices and the rump steak placed between the two sandwich slices. It is best to season with mild steak salt.
